10G SFP+ ports for stacking/uplink
Depending on the type of stacking implemented, linear or fault-tolerant ring, users can use one or two 10 Gigabit SFP+ ports to create a physical stack. Six units or 288 Gigabit ports can be configured in stacks via optional direct attach cables to cost-effectively achieve high bandwidth on DGS-1510 Switches. Users can combine any model of the DGS-1510 family into a single stack to perform configuration, management and troubleshooting operations easily and simultaneously on all devices. With 20Gbps full duplex capacity, the DGS-1510 family implements 10G connectivity in core networks and on 10G-compatible servers while maintaining a high level of performance and minimal impact on data rates.
Layer 3 Traffic Management.
The DGS-1510 switches implement static routing to allow networks to be segmented into small workgroups and communicate between multiple VLANs without adversely affecting application performance. With this expedient, network efficiency can be increased by preventing the router from having to deal with internal traffic to devote itself to managing security and external traffic.
Extended Layer 2 functionality
The DGS-1510 Series Switches are equipped with a full range of Layer 2 features such as IGMP Snooping, Port Mirroring, Spanning Tree and Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP). The IEEE 802-3x Flow Control feature allows direct connection of servers to the Switch making data transfers fast and reliable. Dedicated network maintenance features include Loopback Detection and cable diagnostics. Loopback Detection allows detection of loops created by a specific port or VLAN by automatically shutting down the port or VLAN affected by the problem. Cable Diagnostics is designed primarily for network administrators and managers who can quickly identify the type of error on cables and determine the quality of the cables.
